Do something to get warmed up, like a diary or journal. Then write as long as you feel 100%. Stop before you get tired. For me that's 4 to 5 hours, but I'm old. Hemingway said to stop where you know what comes next, even if it's in the middle of a sentence. And treat it like a job, don't rely on inspiration, just do it whether you want to or not. If you get it wrong you can fix it tomorrow.

Check out Stephen King's book "On Writing" it's considered an amazing resource for beginner writers. Particularly it has a lot about actually getting work done.
@CountScrofula that is interesting. i looked up what would Stephen king say is the correct amount of time to write
As much as you like 🙂

Write for ten minutes and then decide what you need.

@LILY61 write for ten minutes.
How do you feel? Do you need to go on? Is the writing taking you in a direction you want to explain or explore more? And then, decide if you should take more time just getting words out or decide where you want to take what you have written so far
