A Pirate Story 11
To that Izzy embraces john and kisses him gently, saying they will be back in a fortnight, that her father's ships have been spotted off the Carolinas, that he's leading an armada to plunder and sink them. John wraps his arms around Izzy, holding her close as she kisses him. He smiles, his heart filled with love and pride. "Be careful, my love. Your father's ships are formidable, and he won't go down without a fight. But I have no doubt in your abilities, in your strength. You'll bring them down, I know it."
He pulls back, looking into her eyes. "We'll be here when you return, waiting for you. And we'll have a feast ready, to celebrate your victory. Go, my love. Show them the power of Lady Izzy of Tortuga. Show them the truth of your justice."
He kisses her one more time, before releasing her. "Go, my love. Sail swift, sail true. And come back to us, safe and sound."
Lady Izzy swiftly defeats her father's little navy, which had been harassing the colonists in the Carolinas. Izzy's father, the King, hears of the ravaging and slams his fist on the table, demanding to know who Lady Izzy of Tortuga is. The king's advisor, a thin, weaselly man with beady eyes, steps forward, his expression nervous. "Your Majesty, I believe...I believe that 'Lady Izzy of Tortuga' is none other than your daughter, Princess Isolde. She...she seems to have taken up with a group of pirates, and has been causing quite a bit of trouble in the Caribbean."
The king looks at the advisor, his eyes narrowing. "Isolde? My daughter? That pampered, spoiled little brat? That's impossible. She's too soft, too weak. She couldn't possibly be leading a group of pirates."
The advisor shakes his head, his expression turning grave. "I'm afraid it's true, Your Majesty. She's...she's changed. She's not the same girl she once was. She's tough, she's fierce. She's...she's a formidable enemy."The King Bellows angrily, screaming she is a traitor to his throne, and demands her head be put on a spike outside the castle gates, his advisor, shaken, bows to the King and says it will be done. The king turns to the advisor, his eyes blazing with anger. "You will send a message to this 'Lady Izzy'. You will tell her that she is a traitor to the throne, that she is a disgrace to her name. You will tell her that if she does not return to the castle, if she does not beg for my forgiveness, I will send an entire fleet after her. I will hunt her down, I will capture her, and I will bring her back to face justice. And that justice will be swift, and it will be severe."
He slams his fist on the table once more, his voice shaking with rage. "I will not have my daughter defying me, defying the throne. She will learn her place, she will learn her lesson. And if she does not, she will pay the price. Do you understand me?"
The advisor bows low, his voice shaking. "YYes, Your Majesty.
