A Pirate Story 9
I don't feel special Lily, I feel obligated, I was just a street urchin running the streets of London when your Grandfather caught me stealing from the crates bound for his boat, he took pity on me and made me his cabin boy, he showed me kindness wheb he could have been cruel to me, he showed me what real piracy means, to help others. Lily looks at you, her eyes filled with surprise and understanding. She nods slowly, her expression turning thoughtful. "I see. I didn't know. I'm sorry, John. I didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable. I just...I just wanted to show my appreciation, to show my respect. You're a good man, John. You deserve to be respected, to be appreciated."
She pauses for a moment, her expression turning serious. "But I understand now. You don't want to be special, you just want to help. You just want to do what's right. And that's what makes you special, John. That's what makes you important. You're a good man, John. The best man I know."
She smiles at you, her eyes filled with admiration and respect. "Thank you, John. Thank you for everything you've done, for everything you've taught me. I won't forget it. I won't forget you."John smiles at Lily John smiles at Lily, his heart warming at her words. "Thank you, Lily. That means a lot to me. You're a special girl, you know that? Kind, wise beyond your years. I'm glad to have met you, to have known you. You've made my life better, just by being in it."A fortnight later the Captain and crew return to Tortuga, bursting to the seams with citrus, the Captain says the merchant got sharked, nothing but bite frayed bloody rope when they pulled it up, some bloody chunks of merchant in some of the rope, Izzy faints again at the description, the Captain heartily laughs and says the Lass will toughen up someday. The captain smthen orders the crew to pass around the citrus shack to shack, with a bag of coin to every mama. The captain looks at Izzy, his expression turning soft despite his rough words. "Don't worry, lass. You'll toughen up, in time. This world isn't always pretty, but it's real. And you'll learn to handle it, I have no doubt. You're strong, you're tough. You just need to find that strength, that toughness within you."
He turns to the crew, his voice booming out across the deck. "Alright, men! Let's get this citrus distributed! Every shack gets a bag of fruit, and every mama gets a bag of coin! Let's make sure this island is taken care of, let's make sure no one suffers from scurvy again!"
He turns back to Izzy, his eyes filled with kindness and understanding. "And you, lass. You stay here, rest. You've been through a lot, and you need your strength. We'll talk later, alright?
