My bed is oriented toward the sunrise for this very reason. Sometimes I roll over and try to ignore it... but somehow it even gets through the down comforter, the pillows.

that is a wise room arrangement :), mine is the same. Sunlight does have a way of doing that, as if to say "wake up, there are things I have to show you today" ;)

It is the "required" floorplan for many Native American dwellings... the door facing the east. I believe it is for this practical reason... they have more complicated explanations.
