"Henry V" (1989)

In terms of film adaptations of plays by the Bard, I credit Kenneth Branagh with helping to make Shakespeare accessible to many who would not otherwise be interested or aware. These scenes of his St. Crispin Day’s speech still give me chills.

When I saw it in the theater, people were actually cheering !
Imagine that.

I agree 100%. This movie changed me from being confused and afraid of Shakespeare to being a huge fan. It was like someone turned on a light switch. My now 18yo kid has watched this with me a dozen times and we’ve seen the play performed live twice. It’s timeless, and a brilliant adaptation.

I might have to watch it again tonight!
