A real question

Was Shakespeare really a woman ?
Viper · M
To be or not to be! That is the question...
ElRengo · 70-79, M
Don´t seem to be, not the historical Willy.
But there is a "theory" that he was (having also own writings) the visible one of a group of authors.
That conjectural group includded people with a social "status" that made them problematic to publically own what they said in their books.
That MAY also fit to certain women of that time.

By the way, seems that some of the first known literature (also perhaps the Gilgamesh Epic) whas collected from older oral myths and written by a woman.

@ElRengo very true
akindheart · 61-69, F
No he was a man
espoir · 36-40, F
@akindheart the web is full of him being a woman. Google it
akindheart · 61-69, F
@espoir will do! and thanks for giving me something to think about!
espoir · 36-40, F
@akindheart enjoy the conspiracy
redredred · M
I doubt it. I think he once referred to the pussy as a “foul sulfurous pit” but I’d have to look up the exact quote. Self-hating woman perhaps but it seems unlikely.
espoir · 36-40, F
@redredred maybe a misquote?
Pfuzylogic · M
There were no female actors in Shakespearean plays. They were all men.
espoir · 36-40, F
@Pfuzylogic How about lady macBeth ?
Pfuzylogic · M
@espoir The characters were women but played by male actors!
DragonFruit · 61-69, M
No, he was a man and was married to a woman.
espoir · 36-40, F
@DragonFruit Are you 100% sure
DragonFruit · 61-69, M
@espoir Yes, I've become quite familiar with William Shakespeare over the years, as we have the same birthday (but not the same birthdate).
espoir · 36-40, F
@DragonFruit Sorry but he may still be a woman
Wol62 · 51-55, M
Who cares?
ElRengo · 70-79, M
@Wol62

I´m interested.
To know about one of the sources of human culture, the historical times that changed the world as it is is IMO important.
I'm certainly less interested in a solely individual centric, "common sense" worries.

But of course, you have right to your viewpoint.
Just saying who else "cares".
espoir · 36-40, F
@ElRengo All questions are valid as are answers.
ElRengo · 70-79, M
@espoir
There are IMO at least two kinds of validity.
The one with source in our right to question and answer. Good but hardly enough.
The one with source in it´s object. Outside minds and opinions.
I respect the first but I´m more interested in the second.
