Breaking in silence
I smile when I need to.
I answer when I’m called.
I show up for every need,
even when I have nothing left at all.
I tend to eveyone hurting.
I hold them when they fall.
I give until there’s nothing left,
and still I give it all.
But when it comes to what I need?
Well needless to say,
the world keeps right on turning
while I quietly fade away
So I keep the breking to myself
I swallow every tear
I make sure no one sees the cracks,
pretend there’s nothing here
So I’ll keep showing up for everyone.
I’ll keep pretending I’m alright.
And I’ll keep swallowing the words
that beg to escape each night.
Because I’ve learned to hide the pain.
To never let it show.
And never, ever say aloud
just how bad it really gets
when I’m alone.
I answer when I’m called.
I show up for every need,
even when I have nothing left at all.
I tend to eveyone hurting.
I hold them when they fall.
I give until there’s nothing left,
and still I give it all.
But when it comes to what I need?
Well needless to say,
the world keeps right on turning
while I quietly fade away
So I keep the breking to myself
I swallow every tear
I make sure no one sees the cracks,
pretend there’s nothing here
So I’ll keep showing up for everyone.
I’ll keep pretending I’m alright.
And I’ll keep swallowing the words

Because I’ve learned to hide the pain.
To never let it show.
And never, ever say aloud
just how bad it really gets
