I wish I had stayed lost.

I ran from one monster
straight into the arms
of another.

He wore kindness
like a disguise,
and I was desperate enough
to believe it.

At the station,
I threw away my compass
and followed him anyway.

The letter I never sent
still screams the truth:

I knew.

I just wanted
to believe I was finally safe.

Now every departure
feels impossible,
every stranger feels dangerous,
and even the blue sky
looks like a lie.

I remember the road
I didn’t take.

Some nights,
I wish I had stayed lost.
