Windpunk Predraft Introduction

This writing has been started and stopped for the last ten or so years. I hate myself for reasons that led to this taking so long. As a method to motivate me to get it done, I’m sharing my pre writing process as a way to try to motivate myself to get this work written. This is fiction, but once I get this written, if I have time, I might write an autobiography including the time I helped start and fight the revolution in Syria.

Maybe some of you can help think of the reasoning, but this setting is a world in which fire is dangerous and they avoid it as much as practical, so instead of combustion engines and firearms, their vehicles are all sailing vehicles, boats, cars, gliders that carry a large number of passengers, and are launched by a winch that is powered by a windmill system. Instead of firearms, they developed automatic and semi-automatic, magazine fed and rubber band in magazine cocked crossbows.

The reality of these things can all be seen on YouTube. Their tech, avoiding fire to develop, don’t have the exact precise precision of all available to us, but they are good tech pieces. Sailboats, sailcars, sailplanes, automatic and semiautomatic crossbows, arcbows, and ballistae that answer the majority of our weaponry. There is more to come. I started sharing too early. I’ll try to get back to this soon. The more interaction, the more motivated I’ll be to finish writing and posting. Have to move! Have a good day!

You're looking for reasons why fire is avoided? (Lore wise)

Is this meant to be a world view or a known civilization kinda thing?

And also is there metalworking?

@Deljay no thanks required sir

@lovingdead required or not, the thanks takes a few taps on the keys, so whether you want it or not, THANKS! How do I begin posting the writing I am now getting back into? I know this process will be a pretty rough draft, but I want to keep putting it to a feedback group, haha.

@Deljay do blurbs, little snippets. if you're writing a rough draft, dont be afraid to share in the same format. the first share will be raw and messy, the next a little more refined, change it as you go. you're writing which is hard enough already, so no need for the extra grief about how best to share. you got this.
