I was listening to a podcast
(I know....what's new?)
It was a "horror" podcast. I quote it because it really wasn't scary or horroresque.
And while i liked the premise, the idea, the characters (for the most part), and all, it was one of those things where I knew I could have written it better.
I hate that when that happens. That means I'm going to write something and probably never finish it, even if I like what I'm writing.
I came across a meme about the brain creating a whole bunch of things to write, but not how to put it all together. I posted it with the comment that I really need an editor.
My coworker offered on the post to be a proofreader, which I also need lol.
So when I got to work, i asked her if she was honest in offering. She said "Absolutely! I love to read!"
So I shared the doc with her, warning her there are a lot of notes and ideas written, and about 3 chapters so far.
She later asked about one of the notes and I explained it to her. She said just from the notes, she was already all in for the ride.
Today, she apologized that she hasnt had a chance to read more. She said she just finished the book she was reading and needed a small reading break.
I told her currently, there is only the three chapters because I realized I needed to write the back history of another character and have been working on that, so it's hung at the current three chapters of the main story. I told her hopefully with an audience, I'll be encouraged to keep going.
She assured me of she gets hooked, she'll be demanding new chapters.
Perfect!
