July writing prompt #8 - Rising Waters

Rising Waters

The sky now broods dark and low
the first drops heavy lift dust but slow. ☔️
Pace soon increases rapidly.
Parched land transforms for all to see;
Light Sandy yellows, pinks and greys
to wet deep browns, blacks and bays.
Clouds above shift and growl ⛈️ 💨
Deluge on the tin roofs howl
Now the rain falls brash with sound
Gutters over spill, smash to ground
Streams arise in dips and downs
Flows conjoin to furrowed frowns
Lightening flash lights the dimmer day ⚡️
Bright prelude to the trouble coming our way
Rill transforms from babbling brook
as thunder claps roar, with buildings shook.
And Raging torrents fill and rise
God wrings out the sodden skies.
Levels rise relentlessly
More rain falls down incessantly.
The narrow bed long now disappeared
Transformed impossible brown churning filled.
Banks topped and debris laden flow
Breaks as bits of structure go.
Terrifying, raging intensity
Roaring mad flood fuelled insanity
A car bobs by 🚙
How, why?
And carnage continues as does the rain
Our beautiful valley now an ugly drain.
