I Write

She heard a twig snap in the darkness behind her. She turns her head with a gasp and tried to focus her eyes through the dark. Darting back and forth, her eyes try in vain. She sees nothing but the foliage and the forest floor. Again, a twig snapped. This time, in front of her. Directly where she was looking. She saw nothing, but she can feel the gaze of some kind of otherworldly beast staring a hole in her very soul. She feels it’s hunger. Its contempt. It’s rage. Keeping her eyes locked where she believes the creature to be, she turns her head and pulls her hood over her, slowly. She made a mistake. She blinked. The next thing she sees are gigantic claws slashing the darkness to get at her neck. The claws alone were longer than her arms. With a sharp gasp, she does a dashing leap backwards to avoid certain death. The beast narrowly misses, taking only a few strands of hair off her head. She lands, weightlessly, on one foot, still gliding across the forest floor. She sees the claws impact the ground, and rake back towards the darkness, tilling the soil. She lets out a sigh as she swiftly turns around so she’s facing the way she’s travelling and places one foot in front of the other and started a full on sprint. The sound of earth being torn is just right behind her, accompanied by swift, heavy, thudding, and a loud snarling pant. She focuses on her path ahead. Having to navigate every step with caution, she feels she is pulling ahead of the beast. Possibly because the flora provides some sort of obstacle for it. Whatever the reason, she refused to slow down. Vaulting over fallen trees, sliding under low branches, and diving over shrubs, she felt almost as at home in the forest as the monkeys. The wind resistance pushed her hood back and had her cloak flowing like a cape as she flew across the forest floor. She must have ran for a mile before she came across a natural barrier: a cliff side. No where else to go besides back toward whatever it was that was after her. The crashing and snarling gets closer. She can see trees fall over, one at a time, as it gets closer and closer. She widened her stance while she pulled her hood back over her head. A grin creeped across her face, and then, it kept creeping. Her face seemed to break and split as her grin reaches just under her ears. She pulls her lips back in a smile, revealing rows upon rows of razor sharp, pointed, teeth. She began to growl softly as her eyes started to glow red, and the creature approaches. Nothing but darkness on the other side of that tree. Then that tree is suddenly crushed at the base and flung right at the hooded girl. Direct hit. The tree exploded from the force of the impact, and the girl stood strong, not a scratch on her. Eyes glowing through the dust. She opened her mouth, and unhinged her jaw, like a snake, to expose all of her piranha like teeth. She lunges towards the darkness with inhuman speed....
