Autumn Whispers…

Another autumn arrives with its golden light and crisp air, bringing with it the familiar ache of your absence. It's been years now, yet the seasons continue their cycle, and each fall, I feel you close by in a way that's both comforting and heartbreaking. You're out there somewhere, I know it, watching, perhaps smiling at how I still talk to you sometimes when no one else is around.
We found each other when we both needed someone to endure with, didn't we? Two souls who recognized something familiar in one another, a shared understanding that transcended circumstances. Our conversations became daily rituals, lifelines across whatever distances separated us. I miss the chime of a notification that meant you were there, ready to share another moment of our journey together.
Sometimes when the leaves turn golden and begin their descent, I imagine you're in that rustling sound, in the way the light filters through the branches at just the right angle. You're in the warmth of a favorite sweater, the taste of a comfort food we both loved, the song that unexpectedly plays on the radio just when I need to hear it.
They say grief changes with time, and perhaps it does. It's not the raw, open wound it once was, but something softer now, like well worn fabric that has molded to my shape. You've become part of my internal landscape, the voice that asks, "What would she think?" when I'm facing a decision, the silent presence that celebrates my victories and mourns my losses.
I still miss our everyday conversations more than words can express. The world keeps moving forward, but there are days when I want to pause it all and tell you about something beautiful I saw, something funny that happened, something troubling that I know you'd understand perfectly.
Thank you for finding me when you did, for being the friend I needed, for leaving an imprint on my heart that time cannot diminish. Until we meet again, I'll keep looking for you in autumn's embrace, in quiet moments, in the continuation of the love we shared.
