What's your Corona Virus story?
Hi. I'm from the Philippines, a Political Science student, and I would like to share a few disturbing news about my country. I know the world is suffering from this virus outbreak and variants of it has already spread globally. The thing is, our country had implemented quarantine lockdowns since March 2020. We were struggling then and we're still struggling now. Later in 2020, the country has opened to try to stabilize the dying economy.
During months of lockdown, the national government paid little to no attention to the virus and to the people. Instead, they focused on silencing the mass by shutting down the giant broadcasting company in the country; passing an Anti-Terror Bill which is now a law (but law professionals are still petitioning) that would give a free pass to authorities to arrest an entity or an activist whether terrorist or not as long as found badmouthing and opposing the government and its system; performing Extra-Judicial Killings (EJK) which already took so many lives of activists and lawyers; and an increase in the country's debt.
Now in 2021, it seemed like we have gone back to 2020, a second season of Lockdown in the Philippines. More lawyers and activists are being detained and killed because of the EJK, then the huge increase of debt and deaths from the virus. Right now, lockdowns are once again carried out. The economy of the country is deteriorating. The poor are being sacrificed once more.
I am afraid for my country.

I hope everyone's doing great mentally, emotionally, physically, and socially amid the pandemic. :)))
