I Express Myself Through Writing

A Roadies Dance

He was just a roadie only there to pick up after the band. Every night stack it up then tear it all down.
She was a devout follower of the band... Loved the music, knew every line.

He always envied the guys and how the women seemed to be there every night after the show. In the backstage area waiting for there objects of affection to come to them. Beautiful amazing women that never seemed to see him standing around, always averted his eyes.

She went backstage that night hoping to be the lucky girl in that town. Hoping that she could begin even if it was a mindless fantasy, a new life. Like all the others around she had the perfect hair and clothes. He seen her and something had caught his eye. She seemed to be fidgeting with the bracelets around her wrist. Her eyes kept down and staying to herself as if she didn't belong.

Sure he thought that she wouldn't want anything to do with a grungy regular nobody but the beauty she had made him remember days as a young boy on a school yard trying to get the courage up to tell a girl hi. Should he just walk by hoping to get a glance or maybe even be brave enough to speak words in her direction.

In a few minutes the band will be done... Music over and the party backstage will begin. Damn this unsettling feeling in his stomach and how he hates to feel this way.
She is listening more now to the music and hearing the roar of the crowd. She knows after seeing the band come and go two times already that it won't be long till the last encore is played.Should she leave now to avoid the certain let down that in her heart she feels will surely happen. She has though seen someone else ,another man that has been looking her way.

The words have been spoken and just like last call at a bar, there is only a few more minutes before the evenings events are over. He gets ready to go work knowing a certain moment will pass. She is arguing with herself more and thinking about leaving as her legs won't move. He walks by her .. Ready to move on to empty the stage and move on to the next town. As he passes by his legs stop for some reason unbeknown to even him. Words that must have sounded like childless rubbish come out. She looks up with a smile that could have lit up a whole stadium.

The show is done and the women backstage followed all the boys in the band. The roadies went on stage and packed up for the next town . Tonight though there was a different feel cause even if the music had stopped .. There was still a couple in the spotlight dancing to there own ballad.
