On the Precipice
The crazed mob is dragging a man toward the edge of a steep cliff, intent on throwing him onto the rocks below. The man will likely die if that happens or at least will suffer severe, debilitating injuries.
Despite his imperfections, the man is widely admired and valued. He is seen as a shining light, a beacon of hope across the land and beyond. Losing him would be devastating.
But the mob considers him a nuisance and an obstacle to their destructive impulses. The leader of the mob is evil and sadistic and wants him gone. His followers in the mob are devoted to him and will do whatever he wants.
Many of those who aren’t directly involved in this horrifying event are aware of what is happening. Some, out of ignorance or malice, support the mob’s actions. Others are indifferent, considering it irrelevant to their lives. They ask, “what does this have to do with me?”
However, quite a few are alarmed by what is taking place and recognize the need for immediate action, and a brave few are valiantly trying to make their way to the cliff to help the endangered man. There are hurdles and roadblocks they have to get past, but they are determined to rescue the man at all costs.
Will they succeed in their efforts? I don’t know. All I know is there’s not much time left.
