Writing Challenge

Let’s try a writing challenge using the approach of @ChampagneOnIce and @Fungirlmmm where we select some random words to use in a poem, story, or reflection of any kind. Here are the first six words that catch my eye as I look around my office:

Hand
Connect
Spring
Tea
Pure
Tool

This is my first try at one of theses - so here goes:

Spring is here, so I grabbed a tool, spilled my tea, connected with the ground, and now my hand hurts. Pure talent, folks.

I’m gonna just write some couplets to use the words in order and see what happens—sense or nonsense…

When I reach out and take you by the hand
It’s not what either one of us had planned.

And if we’d had a moment to reflect
We might have missed the moment to connect.

What better time of year is there than spring,
To risk the heady pleasure of a fling?

In winter, I sit calmly with my tea
And no adventures seem to come to me.

The weather then is crisp and cold and pure
And in my home I’m confident and sure.

But as it warms I’m such a lovelorn fool
That I can’t even find a rhyme for “tool”!
