Dark Divide (September 18)
This has been on my mind since I saw the writing prompt, Dark Divide.

Me: Who are you? What do you want?
It: I am here so you can rest.
Me: You smell like death.
It: I am.
Me: Am I dead?
Death: Dying and yes, not alive.
Me: But I don't want to die. I want to see the faces and hear the voices of those I love. I want to experience all the beautiful things that surround me again.
Death: I am inevitable. A part of the natural cycle. In rest, nothing is forgotten.
Me: What happens next?
Death: There is no before or next. There is only now. You are in a place to see light … and be light.
Me: I see light. Do you see light?
Death: No … I am in the shadows.
Me: That makes me sad for you. It's beautiful.
Death: Now. There is only now. Rest …. now.
