I've wanted to write a novel. But have always sucked at outlining. So I usually get writers block after the first 6 chapters.
The only time I managed it was on an old computer that crashed and I didn't back up my work.

I really only wrote song lyrics, wasn't very good at it but I would like to pick it back up again someday.

My outlines looked like the song structure (verse, chorus, bridge, etc.) with the title at the top and a list of questions that the title evoked.

The lyrics would just be rhyming answers to those questions.

I didn't come up with that scheme myself, it was taught to me.

I find the writing is better if i just wing it. If i try to plan or edit it seems to lose something . It's like the words come through me instead of from me . The firtst draft is always the best,

I don't use an outline I think it shows in my writing.

I've actually never done an outline. I tend to write the book in my mind going over and over the details until I'm happy. Then I type it into the computer.
