Escape The Night

Escape The Night
The night was once a haven for me, a place of love and joy
The later the hour it made no difference to me as it played out
Across the ocean and beyond the mountains she came to me
The distance and difference in time meant little to each of us
Now everything is spinning and I can barely find the ground
Something within me seemed to break once she was gone again
Each night seemed colder than before as that sanctuary had left me
Minute after minute and hour after hour, time seemed to drag on and on
The coming of the night now seems like a nightmare of thoughts and fears
A place where the world is far too quiet and my mind is far too loud
Sleep never seems to come easily and when it does come it seems fleeting
Once a place of beauty, trust and love is now something I want to escape
