Steelheart

A Stolen moment as I allow myself to believe
Fate seems to smile as that door opens
Even with the hurt inside, I felt my heart soar
Like I could just reach out and make it all whole again

Words were exchanged back and forth as if no time had passed
Still unsure inside, but I could not deny the happiness that I felt
But soon that moment of brutal honesty comes
And with it, my heart sinks and my head goes into a spin

But this time something seems to have changed
The pain and bitterness that would have rocked my world in the past
Does not rise to take control
The simple thought of having her in my life is better even if only as a friend

But I should have learned long ago that my fate has been sealed
And with it my heart no encased in steel never to be free again
