Landslide

Standing at the base of the mountains that tower above me
The sheer beauty made my heart beat faster in my chest
Unable to avert my eyes from the magnificence that stands before me
That sense of wonder that seems to be building inside of me

Even though the thoughts of the past I still stand my ground
Fighting back those fears that threaten to take control of me
That fight or flight instinct deep down inside of me
Like an Angel on one shoulder and a demon on the other

Stop and take a chance or flee and never know what could have been?
My head held high as her words drew me closer and closer as the days went by
In the distance, I cannot hear the unsettling sounds as I fall so hard
On my knees looking up at that mountain as the landslide began.
