This Side of Heaven

Once the words were goodbye angel, when it seemed every good had gone
Thought that it was all gone and Love would never come to me again
The exquisite touch of her words and affection forever gone from this place
Looking up at the heavens knowing my heart was now in hell

So much lost and too many tears shed without a word in between
Lost in the heartbreak of emotions unchecked until I had nothing to give
But like it is said, it is always darkest before the dawn
But never did I ever expect to get to see this heaven again

The dreams came back like an emotional tidal wave rising inside
Any expectations kept in the chains of my fears and loneliness
The clouds suddenly darkened as quickly as they had lifted from my eyes
This side of heaven was something far beyond my reach.
