Fallen

When we are young the world feels like it is full of hope
But that youth is something that slips away so quickly
The almost endless optimism is replaced by the real world
Thoughts of endless summers were replaced by the cold embrace of winter

Whether we become trapped in the creations of our design or just become lost
The world of light and happiness seems to slip further and further into the dark
Moments of joy becoming even more fleeting than you could ever recall
A sense of tiredness that you just feel you can never escape.

So much time being lost as we squandered it thinking we were forever
Now a mere shadow of what you thought you were and slipping deeper
How many more steps before you find the edge and tumble into the unknown
Fallen for the last time with no hopes of ever coming back again
