Mirror Mirror

To some, it is just a reflective surface
Something to look into for a brief moment
But what looks back at us when we take a moment?

What do we see in our reflection and is it what everyone else sees?
Do we dare to take too long to look into our own eyes and think
What lies beyond that gaze and the windows to the soul

Do we see the spark of life and the path of joy
or do we see the sadness in those eyes that we try to hide
How long dare we stare into that reflection before we see too much?

As a point of interest, the phrase “Mirror mirror, on the wall,” is incorrect in the sense that the original phrase that was used in the fairytale of Snow White was “Magic mirror, on the wall “.
