Yesterday (II)

Yesterday

No bright future, nothing lies ahead but the darkness of the night
Only the past behind me, another yesterday dead and gone
it is said it is always darkest before the dawn as the new day begins
But what if all those new days are gone and only the night remains

Thoughts of the future replaced by nothing but the yearnings of the past
Choices played over and over again in your head and nothing good comes
So many mistakes, but are they all yours? or are you just partly to blame
Standing as you wait for the first touch of the sun on your face

My body is so tired now that even contemplation of a new day is too much
Just want to sleep as you know you have nothing left to give anymore
Take your place among the forgotten and know that you never were enough.
A new day begins but all I have left to remember is yesterday
