Rising Waters

Life can become so overwhelming that I feel I am standing on a platform
The world is all around me but I just cannot make sense of any of it
The surface beneath me becomes smaller as the rising water comes
Looking down I can see it covering my feet and with no end in sight

The combined feelings come together as I struggle to keep control
The space beneath me disappears faster than I can cope
Eyes turned towards the sky as if looking for someone or something to help
Now my ankles are covered in the water that threatens to engulf me all

My balance tested as the water now covered my knees
Again my head turned skywards as I whispered out a soft plea
My hope is being tested time and time again and I want to break down
Perhaps this is a new beginning and that will hope will come before I drown
