Why Me

I awake to a new day, a year older but it seems nothing seems better
But then like a Goddess blessing me from a place beyond my reach
You reached out to me and reminded me that I am not alone
Time lost seemed to mean nothing to the words we shared

Back and forth as if none of the hurt had ever been
The distance and time are nothing more than something to overcome
My world is lit up by a smile that seems to shine right into my heart and soul
nothing seems to matter but that moment shared between you and me

Plans I had to see out this day now seem better as I sit here smiling
Thinking before this would be a last hurrah before I tried to find some real peace
Now that seems so far away and the world is so much brighter for what was shared
I do not know what the future holds but I can only be happy pondering Why me?
