Everywhere

I just want to close my eyes and block out everything around me
Escape from the world that seems to scream at me about my mistakes
Every time I took a step backwards when I should have held my ground
Found the courage inside me to take a step forward and show me

Would that have made a difference in what I feel now?
Inside I know I tried but somehow it still feels like I failed
From my eyes to the dreams that turn into nightmares
Sleep is a moment of peace that turns into a need to awaken

But I cannot close my eyes for too long now
The fear that somehow I will miss seeing you
Not that it ever seems to matter now as when my eyes are open
I see you everywhere but always beyond reach.
