Shallow (Waters of Despair)

Shallow

Drowning in the shallow waters of despair I stand in
Clawing at the muddy banks of life that surround me
With each movement forward I lose my grip and slide backwards
Unable to find my footing as each new failure comes like a hammer blow

Thoughts spiraling around my head as I try to make sense of it all
The darkness of everything is like my eyes closing again and again
Another step forward grasping for the edge to find some daylight
Hope forms as I take another step before losing my grip

Tumbling back into the shallow waters below me once again
Frustration formed inside making me want to scream
A moment is taken and a deep breath drawn
Time to start over once again, hope is still alive even through it all
