Step by Step

The saying goes that every journey starts with a single step
Each new step brings something else to you
Sometimes the mundane and other times so much more
That journey of discovery began with you

A step forward and sometimes a step back but always with a place in mind
Each new day a destination so desperately sought to be found
One that I thought we could eventually find one distant day
But as with all journeys, they come to an end

Now I am on another journey seeking to understand my failures
Step by step as it should go, but what happens when you cannot move forward
Each new attempt is more a stumble than progress at finding peace
Step by step, motion and emotion together and no end seeming real
