Epiphany

When is the realisation that what you feel is so much more?
That you could not go a day without that person in your life
Even the simplest things make the world a better place
That bolt from the blue, that spark of creation in your mind.

But just like a revelation, it is not always everything you both need
Even if she was always more than enough for you and even than you deserved
Over time she just seemed to slip away from you
That magical moment of inspiration and happiness stripped away

Now just a distant thought and you cannot help but wonder if it was real
Are you ever in their thoughts at all or are just forgotten as easily
No matter how long passes, those thoughts of what could have been
Like that moment of understanding came and was gone again
