Ticket To Ride
I have the ticket in my hand as I wait for the signboard to change
The clock ticking by as the time gets closer and closer to departure
Eyes turned away and quickly back again to see that it has changed
The platform number can be seen and I am moving towards the gate
Now moving with the crowd I make my way onto the platform and slow
The crowd ahead of me stopped as their tickets are checked ahead
In my head, I can see the seat that awaits me and my tiredness grows
The line moving once more and before I know it I am on onboard
I find my seat and slide in next to the window and look at the people beyond
The seat next to me empty as I start to think and as always they turn to you
Your words echoing around my mind about how we would enjoy this journey
Sat next to each other, but you are only there in my mind
