Disappear

How I wish I could close my eyes and make you go
How I wish I could have walked that path that took me to you
How I wish that things would have been the way I wanted them
But that is not how life works and I would be untrue to us both if I did

I can let these feelings of loss take hold of me and be struck low
I can give those feelings the power they deserve and smile at the good times
Take the time to not see what could have been, but take the time to see what we had

You can stand in the rain and have your tears disappear in the downpour
You can take the time to take what was good and feel nothing but pain
You can choose to let it all go and give it away for nothing
Choose to feel all that has been lost or learn to take strength from the good

Time will show but if the joy was there throughout
Then that joy should be there until the end even if it hurts
Accepting what cannot be but learning to find strength from it
Taking that helping hand offered and learning to smile once more.
