Ashes Fall

All around them the world was in chaos, people lost in their panic as he stood before her and held her close against his chest. it did not matter what fate was to befall them. it meant nothing against what their love held for them.

The roar of gods anger could be heard as the mountain erupted and spilt forth the fiery hell that now beset this place. A fool's place of decadence and debauchery that had now gone too far and would pay a final price.

If he felt any fear then he dared not show it as he held his love close to his chest. the air now becoming thick with the falling ash that seemed to come with the fiery anger of the gods and now threatened to engulf the entire city.

He could feel her face move as she looked up at his face. he turned his attention from the flames in the distance and, met her loving gaze with his own and could not help but embrace her with even greater conviction.

"The gods have been angered on this day"

She said with a trembling sound in her voice. the fear he felt was also echoed by her. but she tried not to hide it from him as he did from her.

"Aye, they are my love. but this is but one life we will share "

He said and he could feel her cheek press against his chest as she wrapped her arms tighter around his body and he could not help but close his eyes and only live in this moment with her.

"Forever and a day, I shall be yours"

He heard her whisper and opened his mouth to speak, but knew he could find no words that would match the truth she spoke and how they were forever connected and the gods be damned.

Together forever in this moment and the lifetimes that would follow as the ashes fall upon this place.
