The game of love can be compared to so many things
All the twists and turns of that game with so much at stake
Moving pieces across the board like calling on experiences
Love found, love lost and love that was never going to be

The person and subject who your heart calls out to sits before you
Do you throw caution to the wind and expose your inner self?
Or do you move ahead with the bravado of someone who feels no fear
Move after each move and the pieces are moved around the board

The longer this game goes on, the more it seems to confuse you
Your heart hurts from what should be a joy but feels like frustration
Ready to give all you can do so and do it freely out of something true

Round and round the game goes and you stare at the board before you
This time you thought it would be better and you had found someone
The game is now over and you have lost again and do not know if you can go on
Your love has become your opponent and you are held again in checkmate
