Be Gentle

The simple pleasure of your smile leaves me needing more
Been down this path before and the old fears always come back
So much in our lives that we have tried to learn from and move on

Wanting to be ourselves and trusting each other
Hopes and dreams are offered and accepted in return
So many things that could make us stumble if we let it

Offering up our pasts and secrets to be told
Needing to give us other more than we could
So many walls to overcome and find the path to your heart

Time is something we need to learn to appreciate
Moving towards you as you move towards me and each step is something new
We are laid bare to each other and become vulnerable and exposed

What we must always remember, is the need to be gentle as time goes on
