Pendulum Swings

it is like something from a nightmare
The blade swinging back and forth above me
None of it is real. not in a physical sense at least
But the emotional pain burns deep

Swinging to the left and visions of happiness
Swinging to the right and the nightmare of my life
Passing through the centre I see my hope
The action of the pendulum swings faster and faster

And with each passing moment, I feel the pain begin to slip away
The blade is so close now, mere inches from my flesh
Like a final curtain call, all I can do is lay back and watch as
The Pendulum swings
