Angels Sing
Angels Sing
I feel the dirt beneath my hands as I press them into the earth
All around me is the destruction that man is capable of
The bitter tears that will fall when the names are recalled
Another battle fought that no one would win
The darkness of the falling night is all around me as the cold winds chill my skin
Silence now has fallen over the battlefield and I am alone with my thoughts
The fatigue that grips my body almost too much to take
I Fight back the tears at the loss of so many comrades in arms
My body shudders at the effort of trying to stand
Down on my knees had no strength left in me
In the distance, I hear the cry of another
The birds now circling over ahead called to feed
Without warning I hear their voices
That heavenly chorus from above
My eyes drawn skywards as I see their presence
Winged beautiful forms looking upon me
I can do nothing but listen to them
Lost in their celestial tones that enrapture me
The world around now seems so much brighter than before
When Angels sing their words from heaven down upon me.
