Brave the deep

The feel of the water against my toes as I feel it roll in
Before me, I see the ocean as it seems to stretch on forever
Here I stand at the edge of the water in comfort and safety

This is the place where nothing can touch me
Lost in my world and safe against any that might try
Dare I take another step further into the flow

Now the water is higher against me. I can feel its coolness
The urge to look back to the land is fought against
Eyes still locked on what seems like an endless horizon

Another step forward and I can feel the water against my waist
I feel a shiver at the thought of how deep this could be.
But in the distance, I cannot help but hear her calling to me

Free from my place of safety I now stand deeper than I would normally dare
Just now need to find the courage to keep moving forward and see what is out there
Time for me to give love a chance and trust in her completely
