Hope (What would be)

Hope

The world around me is as confusing to me as anything I have ever seen
I dared to dream and try to find something better and just as years have gone by
Well, it crashed and burned and once again I was not good enough

I leapt even when I knew I should not have, but I did
Now another year comes closer to its end and I do not want to start another
And Those around me, those that feel suffering, I wish them something better

Hope is something that if you can find it, then cling to it
Hope is something that can keep you warm even in the darkest of nights
Hope is something I no longer have nor will trust ever again

I looked to the future and hoped and now I had been misjudged
I looked to a moment beyond and hoped and have been discarded
I looked to what life could have been and in turn, found and lost hope.
