Holding my breath
Holding my breath
A moment to ponder before your face finds the water
A moment to think how could this have been any different
A moment where all of your hopes you held so firm too
Gone in an instance as you draw that quick breath and prepare
The world is enveloped as the liquid surrounds you
Is this enough or will it overwhelm you
Just another fight lost, holding your breath as you fight on
Eyes opened wide as the truth is seen, the realization that nothing has changed
Maybe if you had been so wise to have seen this before
Then you would not feel this struggle as you fight for air
You can think of yourself ready to deal with the world
But you never have enough in you to survive the storm
