Surrender

You have fought the odds
You have stood your ground
Another man may have been proud

But no, this is no call to glory for you
No happy ending as you once thought you deserved
Never at this moment do you have that coming

For each time you stood in the face of despair and held your head high
There are so many more where you have wanted to just close your eyes
Oblivion being called out to and wishing you could just count back to zero

No longer be anyone's problem and all of the pain would be gone
if you are lucky then if anyone did care and had gone before
They will be waiting for you in whatever waits beyond

Give in and surrender for the fight was never yours to win
Let the strength leave you for there is no pride left to give
A loser in life and who knows, perhaps there is something better than this
