Die for you (Chapter One Part two)

He shifted his body again as he felt a twinge in the muscles in the lower part of his back, his leg shifted slightly and he could feel the muscle begin to relax again as he returned his attention to the scope and continued to look through the window and had to resist cursing silently to himself as he found nothing inside.

He paused for a moment before he reached down to the other side of his combat trousers and eased a cell phone from deep within, his thumb pressed against the power button and he felt it vibrate in his hand as the device powered into life and the screen glowed brightly.

He placed the phone down on the ground and pressed his eye closer to the scope and squinted as he continued to scan the window, the rifle shifting from left to right as he continued to search for any signs of life.

He let his tongue slip between his lips and he ran it across them as he felt the dryness on them. His touch made him feel better as he then swallowed softly and cleared his throat.

He let his attention break from where he looked through the scope and shifted his eyes down to where the phone had finished its start-up sequence and now he could see the screen turned black once more.

He placed the rifle down against the grass as he picked up the phone and let his thumb press against the power button at the side of it, the screen coming to life and revealing an image on the main screen of an attractive redhead in her late twenties, a happy grin on her face as she seemed to be posing for the shot.

He let his thumb shift from where it was touched against the power button and it touched the screen he pressed it against the contacts list and scrolled through the list until he found the contact he searched for.

The screen changed again and he looked down at the options his thumb hovered over the call button and his attention turned back to the rifle and he leaned in closer to press his eye to the scope once more and returned his attention to the office building.

He licked at his lips once more and cursed quietly before he let his head roll back from the scope he began to roll his head as he tried to work the tension from his neck and he shifted his attention back to the scope once more.

He began to ease his finger down onto the screen of the phone, the call button waiting to be pressed as he saw movement from within the office that he had been watching.

The office door opened and the woman from the image on the screen of his phone walked in he stopped his hand from hitting the call button as his attention was not fully focused on the weapons scope and the office once more.

The woman stood about Five foot Nine inches in height and had long straight red hair that dropped down past her shoulders and halfway down her back, her face a soft pale complexion in contrast to the sharp colour of her hair.

His hand twisted the scope's controls and it zoomed tight in on her face, which now dominated the entire image he could see, his finger now pressing against the outside of the rifle's trigger guard again and he gently stroked the metal.

The trigger was so easy to reach now, just had to slip past the guard and then he could ease back and depress the trigger with her head in his sight, .he let his breath slow and tried to calm himself and let his eyes close for a moment.

When he opened them, he could not see her, just the empty office space he felt a sense of panic come over him and he began to pull the scopes and zoom back out to try and take in the whole office space.

He saw her now as she slid into her oversized leather office chair and turned slightly giving him a side-on view of her as she twisted a little letting the chair rock side to side as she did.

He watched as she placed her cell phone on the desk and then turned the chair back so she was now sitting directly in front of her desk. her head now hidden by the back of the chair and he could barely make out any movement from her now.

He moved his knee upwards once again and straightened out his other leg and let his weight shift once more as he tried to find another comfortable position to observe the office from.

He risked looking away from the scope for a moment as he looked down to where his MP3 player rested on the ground, his hand reaching out for it as he touched the screen and began scrolling through the options on the screen.

His attention turned back to the scope and could see she had turned slightly in her chair once more and he could see a side profile view of her again, the sound of the music now beginning to place in the headphone he had put in his ear earlier.

He could hear the opening sounds of the music begin to play as he heard the sound of a guitar begins playing before the singer's voice cut into the music

Hundred numbers on my wall
Some of the names I sometimes call
I drop a coin and watch it fall, Trying to get connected to you
A thousand hours all alone
My softest pillow turns as hard as stone
This is the longest night on my own lying here thinking of you
Sometimes I shake my head and laugh to myself
I’d like to start again with somebody else
I’m like a broken toy, forgotten on the shelf

The sound of the guitar suddenly became louder as it kicked from a soft to a harder rock melody as it rose in intensity and his mind filled with the intense memories that were invoked inside of him as it filled his mind's eye and the singer's voice burst into the chorus of the song.

Baby, I could have been someone, I could have been something
It would have been nothing to die for you.
