Empty Tomorrows

I feel like I took it to the limit before I had to break
Wanted every day to be like the first time, but that was going to be
Hiding from the past but never wanting the day to end

Lost in too many places in my head as try to make sense of it all
I know that even when the sun shines, sometimes a little rain will fall
Trapped in place, hell and heaven are one step back or a place forward

Feeling what has gone in the past as I dread tomorrow
Stuck here in the present is sometimes better than thinking of the past
Knowing that I do not want to see the empty tomorrows

Precious moments together as secrets were shared
Every day something is now gone but was so good
Not knowing what comes next other than nothing but time

Everything we had was given to each other
Something more than I thought possible
But I guess I fooled myself and hurt you so bad

Feeling what has gone in the past as I dread tomorrow
Stuck here in the present is sometimes better than thinking of the past
Knowing that I do not want to see the empty tomorrows
