A Message for the lonely
Festive lights hanging overhead, the hustle and bustle of shoppers rushing around the packed city streets, the moments of bright shining goodness as the Christmas season falls upon us once more.
The chill in the air of the November night, as my coat is pulled tighter around me to ward off the dipping winds as they blow across the shop fronts causing my fellow shoppers to turn or cover their bodies with jackets and coats to ward off the cold touch of winter.
Traffic moves slowly down the centre of the road, each car, bus, and van backed up to the one ahead as the traffic lights change slowly to let consumers cross from one side of the street to the other.
The shops on each side, glowed brightly with festive lights and ornate displays of their wares for all to see, every shop trying to lure people inside with the promise of Christmas cheer and bargains all in one.
The wonder of it all, bringing back memories from our youths, the idea's running through our heads as we try to conjure up the perfect presents for loved ones and friends alike, the simple and the sublime as each new shop window spurs our thoughts on.
Continuing to move, the lights grow brighter as the Christmas lights become more and more plentiful, large displays hanging overhead as images of Santa Claus and Reindeer glow brightly in colours of red and blue.
The couples walk hand in hand down the street as people on their own or in unattached groups weave around them as the two lovers create a barrier across the centre of the path, lost in their worlds as they move as one.
A touch of sadness cannot be helped, as the image becomes part of your mind and you realise, that even with all the magic, you still cannot help but feel alone at this time of year, The Holidays touching those parts of your soul even more than normal.
A thought spared for those who feel lonely and lost, a moment to reflect on these words and let them know they are not alone, they just need to reach out to those lonely around them, and then at least the silence can be stopped and the joy found for a time.
