Tides turn

Standing here as I contempt my life
I feel the heat from the setting sun
Thinking of all my choices, what is left unsaid or done

Through all of this, I cannot find which way to turn
Now I have seen many things
Felt the joy and pain that life has to bring

Walked many paths and always come back to this very one
I've spent time and loved an Angel
Spent many long nights with my mountain Queen

Like the rising of the seas, it has been an uncertain path
highs and lows with the whim of the seas
But I still wish for a better tomorrow
That all my hopes and dreams don't drift away as the tides turn

I have used my words to paint many things
Images of the joy of love and the pain of loss
Though knocked down by life's deceptions
I always found the strength to carry on

Crying out to whoever will listen
As I try to make my mind up on which way to go
Feels like the darkness is closing around me
And I am running out of time

Now is the time to fight against the ocean's rising waves
Keep my head up and find a way home
Need to stay strong even as the tides turn and threaten to sweep me away
