Ocean Calls
The sun pouring forth its life-giving energy
The sound of the ocean lapping against the shoreline
The feel of the warm sand against my toes as I walk peacefully
The cry of a gull as it calls out from above, its path on the flow of the wind
My Head turned upwards to try to see the creature, the sun bright in my eyes
The bird is barely perceptible as it turns outwards towards the horizon
The birds cry out as it drifts upon the winds and is now part of the glare of the sun
Wild and free, going where life calls it and the winds give it a path to do so.
A smile forms as I ponder the things this creature may have seen.
My journey continues, a slight wince as my heel comes down on a small stone
Not painful as much as, a surprise, an almost theatrical wince escapes my lips
Lifted from the ground I check where I felt the pain to find nothing.
A sudden thirst gripping me, my tongue coming forth from my mouth to my lips
My hand reached down to touch my hip and find my empty water bottle
A shake of my head and the thoughts of my thirst pushed away
The sand became wet as the ocean rolled inwards and lapped against my feet
Some form of a joke by mother nature, a mockery of my thirst and need for water
Stopping for a moment to feel the water not absorbed by the sand roll back out.
The sound of laughter from ahead of me, the sound was beautiful and feminine
The sound drew me forward from where I had stopped.
The feminine call caused me to move forward once more.
The thirst that seemed so strong, was now gone and a sense of curiosity drove me.
Another sound of laughter filled my ears, this time followed by several others
A group of females now coming into view, all sat around a blanket in the sand.
The energy of their life and laughter are plain to see, a group of friends enjoying life
My eyes came to rest on the form of the dark-haired beauty.
Her laughter causes me to smile with its infectious energy
Lost in this moment, lost in time on this beach of my imagination
Knowing that somewhere this is a vision of joy and contentment
The words now to be shared and hope bring the happiness it brings me
