Nobody's fool

Waiting and watching as I try to learn from the past
Needing to understand where I have fallen
And how I have managed to get back up again

The strength gained from what others have learned
Each new thing is something to remember and perhaps gain from
Words and images for my mind to take in and feel strong

But for every benefit gained from the wisdom of others
We are chased behind the walls we create thinking we are protected
A wall against pain or just a barrier to keep happiness out

Wanting to be stronger and safe and feel the world turn
Finding that balance between what is learned and what is gained
To become Nobody's fool again
