The words took me by surprise
Something I have felt for some time now
But to hear them from you just rocked me on my heels

The kindness and affection you showed were never doubted
Even by your own words, you were not one to easily succumb
The barriers holding such things back and something I could truly understand

My feelings perhaps caged a little in return, never doubting what I felt
But not wanting to make you become overwhelmed by the way I am
That all changed when you spoke the words without reservation

I love you give to me and I could not have been any happier
Part of me felt like it had become released from those words
Pieces of the puzzle falling into place and feeling closer to you than ever
